Alice Bannister

  • Alice Bannister has been working in the music Industry for the past 6 years. Starting with her management company Hope Valley Creative, whilst performing gigs in venues across the Uk. She now works as a creative Lead at Sheffield based music distribution company Kycker, whilst continuing to manage artists with Hope Valley. Alice has gained experience and understanding across many areas of the music industry, including artist development, music marketing, distribution, promotion and live.’ 

    ‘With over 6 years’ experience working in the live, business and the production side of the industry, Alice founded management company Hope Valley Creative back in 2019. After spending the early stages of her career gigging in local venues as a soloist and within a band, she began her journey into learning music production, sound engineering and the legal side of the music industry. After a 6-month studio internship and jobs in both marketing and A&R, she went on to study business whilst continuing to grow recognition for the Hope Valley brand. Alice also works in the creative team for Music Distribution company Kycker, liaising with artists, working on playlist placement, sync for music and live. As a working musician, Alice is well placed to offer valuable industry advice to artists as well as strong creative direction and support with releases.

Ben Wynter

  • Ben Wynter is a highly accomplished music and media executive based in the UK, boasting an impressive two-decade track record within the music industry. His career has encompassed key roles in management, both in Major and Independent Record Labels, and he stands as the visionary founder behind Unstoppable Music Group, a multifaceted media entity encompassing Consultancy, coaching, Management, Production, Record Label, Cultural Marketing and Podcasting. Through Unstoppable Ben has worked with award winning global talent.

    With a keen eye for innovation, Wynter spearheaded innovative initiatives during his tenure at the PRS Foundation. Among his notable achievements, he conceptualised and successfully launched the Hitmaker Fund, a much needed program that extends vital grant funding to behind-the-scenes songwriters and producers. Additionally, his forward-thinking leadership saw him launch the Future Hitmaker grant with GIR providing opportunities for female songwriters and the Momentum Accelerator grant.

    In his capacity as Director of Business Development and Partnerships at A.I.M (Association of Independent Music), Wynter takes the helm in steering strategic partnerships and presenting unique business prospects to AIM. His unwavering commitment extends to guiding independent music entrepreneurs and rights holders, empowering them to navigate the intricate music and media landscape for the optimal realisation of their assets. Notably, he pioneered the groundbreaking AIM Angel Investment Syndicate, a pioneering venture that introduces fresh insights into capital investment and enhances access to capital for creative entrepreneurs across the UK.

    Wynter devised AIM’s strategy to better serve independent companies in all UK regions and nations through developing networks and facilitating greater access to resources. This has seen AIM open regional outposts in numerous cities across the UK, making it a truly national organisation.

    Wynter also stands as the Co-Founder of the esteemed Power Up! initiative, a multi-award-winning endeavour that ardently combats anti-black racism while championing a more equitable and inclusive music industry in the UK.

    In addition to this, Wynter plays a pivotal role at the government level, serving on the UK government's IPO roundtable for streaming reform, as well as the highly publicized DCMS Creator Remuneration Working Group.

Bernii Mac

  • Bernii is a former musical Artist who now works as a session vocalist, vocal coach, and wellness coach for Artists, with clients world-wide. During her career she has worked as both a vocalist and song-writer for established Artists/their musical teams and new musical Artists a -like.  She is founder of the online membership Bernii Mac’s Becoming The Artist which connects to both mentors and self-care experts alike ensuring new musical Artists can develop their careers, mindset and healthy coping mechanisms at the same time which has often been called 'game-changing' by major players in the business.  She actively works to spread the message of authenticity, mental health awareness, well-being, and self-care based on her own first-hand experiences during a career spanning over 25-years.

Cameron Poole

  • Cameron Poole is a full-time Digital Reporter for Newsquest and freelance music, film, and travel journalist based in Essex. Over the last eight years' he has gone from contributing to small music blogs to profiling some of the most interesting acts and creatives about.  

    Interviews include the likes of Little Simz, Jungle, Royal Blood, Pale Waves, The Vaccines, Miles Kane, Nova Twins, Architects, Annie Macmanus, Wallows, Clara Amfo, Big Narstie, Duran Duran, Mike Shinoda, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Marvel's Benedict Wong and Sophia Di Martino, plus many more. 

    In the music industry, Cameron is predominantly known as a Senior Writer for 1883 Magazine and has contributed to House of Solo, Schön! Magazine, and tmrw. He also previously co-founded the print project, LOCK Magazine. 

Camilla Whitfield

  • Originally from Cumbria, Camilla Whitfield is a Marketing Coordinator for Generator, a creative development agency based in Newcastle. A freelance journalist, she has written for a variety of outlets, including The Hippie Shake, Come Play With Me, 1883 Magazine, and more. Through her work, she's been a Glastonbury Emerging Talent Judge since 2021. 

     

    Beginning her career by writing for aAh! Magazine, while studying BA English with Overseas Study at Manchester Metropolitan University - she eventually became the Music Editor and covered a range of gigs, festivals, and interviews. 

     

    She has interviewed the likes of Will Young, Pixie Lott, Tayla Parx, L Devine, Crawlers, and Beabadoobee.

     

    Aside from journalism, she's just completed the Sony Positive Action Scheme, where she was paired with a Senior Marketing Manager for Columbia. Passionate about all sides of the industry, she's completed internships with Underground England and Le Tigre Noir, and has previously been a Freelance Advisor for Youth Music.

Caroline James

General Manager, Utilita Arena

  • Caroline James is the General Manager of Utilita Arena Newcastle, part of the ASM Global portfolio which includes over 350 venues around the world.

     Originally from London, UK, Caroline began her journey in hospitality during her gap year. She later emigrated to New Zealand, where she owned and managed a 250-cover fine dining restaurant, overseeing a team of over 100 staff and delivering a wide range of events, from weddings to parties. 

    Her career continued across diverse venues, including theatres, arenas, stadiums, and community spaces in the UK, New Zealand, and Doha, with vast expertise in event management, operations, sales and marketing, business development, catering, and hospitality. Caroline worked across many facets of the entertainment and events industry, including sport, music, live shows, television productions, and corporate events.

    In 2018, Caroline relocated to Newcastle, joining the team at Utilita Arena Newcastle. By January 2023, she had risen to the position of General Manager, where she now leads the venue through a busy calendar of high-profile events, including sell-out shows by artists such as Sam Fender, Girls Aloud, and Lewis Capaldi. Under her leadership, the arena is now undergoing a £1.75 million refurbishment in celebration of its 30th anniversary, further cementing its status as Newcastle’s premier live entertainment destination.

Catherine Hurley

  • Cath Hurley is Head of Talent Development at new Birkenhead music venue, FUTURE YARD. This includes overseeing Future Yard’s PROPELLER programme, an in-depth artist membership scheme helping talented musicians professionalise. Cath is Future Yard’s safeguarding lead and is also the lead on the organisation’s IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility) framework. Cath is committed to ensuring that FUTURE YARD is a true community venue and fulfils the needs of those that need it the most. 

    Cath runs MOSTDEFFO, a management company that works with three emerging acts. Cath has worked on artist development and mentorship schemes for the past few years and tries to be a positive and supportive voice in the music community. Cath taught music business at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts for 5 years and is a member of the Liverpool City Region Music Board, which was formed to support the music sector in her local region.

    In 2022, Cath was invited to join the Brit Awards Voting Academy and also visited Texas for the first time as a speaker at SXSW. She is also a regular assessor of PRS Foundation’s Momentum Fund amongst others.

    Previous to this, Cath was product manager at Rough Trade Records and worked on the debut album releases of both SOAK and Gilla Band, amongst others. For a number of years before this, Cath specialised in online PR, digital marketing and social media management working with brand new acts through to well-known pop stars.

Charlie Kemp

  • Charlie leads Tees Valley Combined Authority’s work to grow the creative and visitor economies. This includes the design and delivery of TVCA’s £20.5m Growth Programme for the Creative & Visitor Economies as well as ensuring strategic connectivity across policy areas to maximise devolution opportunities for the benefit of the creative and cultural industries. Her leadership and collaborative, cross-boundary approach has supported the realisation of the transformational North East Screen Industries Partnership, unlocking a £25m investment commitment from the BBC and a further £11.4m of Combined Authority investment into screen industries development across the North East. In September 2024, TVCA announced a bold, new three-year music industry development programme in Tees Valley, in partnership with Generator and Tees Music Alliance. Sonic Futures will deliver more than £2m investment into talent development, support for live music venues and sector skills. 

    Before joining the Combined Authority, Charlie was Creative Director of placemaking studio, OpenPlan - working internationally to raise the profile of the value of the creative industries in plans for spatial and economic regeneration and delivering creative-led community engagement programmes.

Chelsea Wood

  • Chelsea Wood has worked on global campaigns for the likes of Nina Nesbitt, Ella Henderson and Grammy Award winner Foxes.

    She started in the music industry over a decade ago managing artists and running North East’s ‘Blast Recording Studio’ which saw the likes of Sam Fender, Take That and The Marmozets using its facilities. She went onto move to London where she helped secure over 1 billion streams on Nina Nesbitt’s record, tour managed four North American tours, created a breakthrough strategy for her clients on Tik Tok, generated over £80,000 worth of funding for her acts and headed up indie label ‘Truth Records’ as marketing manager for their releases.

    In 2022 she launched Wood Management focusing on both UK and US based clients including Finn Forster, Maius Mollis and DBMK.

Chris Durant

  • Chris has been working professionally in the Northeast since 1995. He started his career as a technician, then became Technical Manager at Live Theatre. He was Head of Technical Operations at Sage Gateshead from 2003 until 2016. In 2016 he moved back into theatre and was Head of Production at Northern Stage for 8 years. He recently joined Newcastle College as a Lecturer in Live Performance Technical Production. He has worked extensively in a Freelance capacity as a Venue Consultant, Site Manager, Production Manager, AV Technician, Sound Engineer, Sound Designer, and Lighting Designer for events across the country. 

Chris Sherrington

  • During a career spanning 25 years Chris has founded and curated festivals, music venues, clubnights, exhibitions and promoted gigs across the North of England.  

    In 2014 he founded The Fulford Arms, an award winning 200 cap venue in York and during the pandemic joined Music Venue Trust, a charity which acts to protect, secure and improve over 800 Grassroots Music Venues across the UK. Most recently his work with MVT has helped create a new Pipeline Investment Fund giving grants to over 100 venues and as part of Music Venue Properties helped purchase and secure venues into community ownership including The Snug and The Ferret. By night he can be found behind the lighting desk of The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge and is a constant advocate for the importance of northern venues and the amazing creative forces they create. 

Claire Dupree

    Having established NARC. in 2006, Claire has been involved in the regional music scene for nearly 20 years, and has extensive experience in supporting musicians and artists to get the best out of their press and marketing. 

Craig Shardlow

Daniel Jones

  • Based in Manchester, Daniel Jones is a Writer Relationship Manager at PRS for Music and is a key point of contact for its members around the world, from high profile songwriters with longstanding involvement within the music industry to the latest emerging talents. 

    Daniel’s role is to engage with songwriters, composers, publishers, music educators, organisations and professionals in order to raise awareness and a better understanding of PRS for Music and increase the value of distributions to its membership. 

    Daniel is a frequent speaker at industry conferences across the UK and has a history of working in music publishing. He was a member of the founding Sheffield City Region Music Board, is currently a member of the Manchester Music City Steering Group and is on the Leeds School of Music’s Industrial Advisory Board.  

    As a keen musician, Daniel has played guitar and bass in a number of punk and hardcore bands and well as a writer who has contributed to a number of websites, fanzines and media outlets.  

David Martin

  • David Martin joined the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) in November 2019.  The FAC is the UK trade body representing the rights and interests of a diverse, global membership of music artists at all stages of their careers.  He also sits as a Director at umbrella trade bodies UK Music and LIVE, and at the International Artists Organisation, as well as the UK’s Council of Music Makers and Independent Venue Week. 

    David has more than twenty years of experience in the music industry with a background in many parts of the sector and in particular in talent booking, relationship development and event brand development.  Most recently he was the lead booker and Director at Dimensions Festival, where he developed the globally recognised music programme from conception, developed the label, Dimensions Recordings and led the festival’s accompanying International Series.  David has a particular passion for identifying and supporting talent and has always championed the role of artists within the industry. 

    David’s music industry experience comes alongside more than fourteen years working in UK central government, developing policy, and supporting and influencing some of the most senior figures of the UK’s Health Service and Members of Parliament. 

Davy Wales

  • Davy works for PPL, the music licensing company that collects and distributes royalties for Performers and Recording Rightsholders when their recorded music is broadcast on TV and radio or played in public.  He provides direct support for high profile emerging artists to ensure they maximise their income from UK and international airplay.  Davy also has a background as a guitarist and has played in various grunge / post-hardcore bands. 

Emily Bowden

  • Since joining Generator as a Programme Coordinator, Emily has developed and helped to deliver the Level 3 Technical Skills for the Live Sector bootcamp in collaboration with Newcastle College. Since completing a technical skills course herself in 2023, enabling her to begin her career in the industry, Emily has worked on theatre shows such as Sister Act, Heathers, Bluey, Ghost, etc. as well as countless gigs from iconic local venues to touring arena shows, and a real highlight, Kendal Calling Festival.  

     Emily is passionate about supporting the development of the next generation of crew, technicians and industry professionals, and creating more equal opportunities within the North East for the Live scene to thrive. 

Geoff Kirkwood

  • Geoff Kirkwood is probably best known as the international DJ and Music Producer "Man Power", however his mercurial music industry career has seen the North Easterner work at a high level across many differing and distinct disciplines including festival production, artist management & booking agency services, record label management, as well as working as a composer making both experimental symphonic artworks & music for film and television. Furthermore, his work as a Creative Consultant has seen him work in partnership with large organisations like The City of London Corporation, The Mayor of London's Office, The GLA, Block 9, Projekt, Unboxed Festival, Newcastle City Council and North Tyneside Council, on large and small projects that seek to develop communities and unleash people's creative potential. 

    Currently Geoff operates two projects in North Shields. OneThreeOne is a Social Enterprise owned by Kirkwood and partners which has saved a one hundred and fifty year old heritage site from dereliction and repurposed it as ten thousand square feet of workspaces that now play home to a thriving  community of creative businesses and practices. 

    Are You Affiliated is a unique venue project which has seen Kirkwood and his partner Harry O'Connor develop an unused Concert Hall within a CIU club and turn it into a full time music venue which has already played host to some of the biggest performers in their respective corners of the musical map, and which has a commitment to developing the local grass roots offering while also offering industry training opportunities and career paths to the people of the North East.

Grace Meadows

Head of Music Minds Matter
Panel: Mental Health and Wellbeing in the Live Sector

  • Grace is Head of Music Minds Matter, a charity working to put positive mental health wellbeing centre stage in music. Prior to joining Music Minds Matter, Grace led the Music for Dementia campaign and co-authored the Power of Music report having previously worked as a music therapist for over 10 years in adult psychiatry, education and the NHS, having trained initially as a bassoonist. Grace is passionate about working with all those in music to ensure the industry can be a beacon for positive mental health. Grace also holds several trustee roles, including Chair of Our Dementia Choir. 

    Currently Geoff operates two projects in North Shields. Jennifer Geddes

Communications Consultant  
Panel: Marketing Yourself Amongst the Noise

  • Jennifer Geddes is a PR, communications and marketing strategist. She studied journalism at Cardiff University, where she got involved in the local music scene. This led to her becoming the Events and Marketing Manager at Gwdihŵ, a grassroots venue, where she booked bands, promoted club nights and ran festivals. She was an advocate for talent development, guiding and finding opportunities for new artists, promoters and techs. The first-hand experience she gained of the challenges of running a venue and supporting a music scene outside of London made her passionate about campaigning for change.

    Taking on a role at UK Music as Communications Manager in 2019 meant that she was able to help address issues facing the music industry, from AI and Brexit to music education and diversity. Jennifer’s writing has also been published in a variety of publications and she has an interest in mental health, having achieved Levels 2 & 3 in Counselling Skills and Studies. In 2024 she joined the board of Generator.

Jennifer Hartley MBE

  • Jen is a seasoned economic development director with a proven track record of attracting new businesses, investment and job opportunities to Newcastle. As Assistant Director of Capital Investment and Growth, Jen is responsible for developing and delivering programmes to stimulate investment and development across Newcastle, convening stakeholders around the city council’s strategic priorities for growth.

    In addition to her role at Newcastle City Council, Jen is also Director of Invest Newcastle, the inward investment agency for Newcastle and Gateshead, working to bring global organisations and funds to the North East, creating opportunities for local residents and communities.  

    With an MA in International Law from Newcastle University and more than 15 years’ experience working across key sectors, Jen was previously Head of Japan Desk at One North East and Deputy Head of Trade and Investment at Tech North.  

    In 2024, Jen was recognised with an MBE for services to business and trade and she is also vice chair of Ouseburn Farm Charity, an advisory board member of the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) and a board trustee of Newcastle Cathedral Trust.  

Jordy Kendal

  • Jordan is a Freelance Sound Engineer based in Newcastle. Working in a lot of Newcastle’s Music Venues like: Riverside, NX, ThinkTank, Cobalt, Stack & The Cluny, Jordan has spent a large amount of time working with venues and artists to make gigs sound great. Jordan's main goal is to break the stigmatism of the ‘grumpy sound engineer’ sat behind a sound desk, generally hating life. He believes this is the best industry to work in and his particular area is his favourite thing to do.  

    A stand out gig for Jordan would be doing sound at the Roots Stage at Kendal Calling this year, 3 days of something like 40 bands of all different genres, an absolutely chaotic brilliant time. 

Josh Daniel

Label Manager, Interval Records
Panel: Approaching Record Labels Effectively

  • Josh Daniel began his journey in the music industry as an Artist, independently selling over 100,000 records and amassing over 1 billion views online.

    He became at home on prestigious stages such as MOBO and even performed for the Royal Family, before emerging as a sought-after Songwriter, writing for chart-topping major label albums and various soundtracks for renowned platforms such as Netflix. Josh's accomplishments also extend far beyond his musical endeavours.

    After successfully scaling two online businesses to a multi-million combined turnover, his entrepreneurial prowess was acknowledged by The Black Cultural Archives who named him a '40 under 40 Future Black Leader'. Through JD Media Group in particular, he expanded his industry footprint into Artist Management, currently representing two emerging talents, and Creative Consulting; notably assisting Meta in the development of the Instagram Reels platform for musicians, and Google in the creative development of their Gen AI platform, Gemini. Current head of Interval Records (A first of its kind joint venture record label between EMI North and Generator, based in Newcastle).

Kay Greyson

Artist
Panel: Things Can Only Get Better?

  • Kay is a hip hop artist and energetic performer that has played at several festivals including Sam Fender Finsbury Park, Newcastle Pride, and Live at Leeds. She is currently signed to Soul Kitchen x EMI North and has an album set to release in September 2024.

    Outside of her career as a performer, she is passionate about working with young people and supporting the local communities in the North East where she is proudly from.

Kelly Betts

Panel: How to Maximise Your Exposure with BBC Introducing

  • Kelly Betts is the Editor for BBC Music Introducing, the BBC’s unique new music discovery initiative. 

    Through a network of influential regional radio shows, the best new music is sourced from local scenes and broadcast to millions via Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6Music, Asian Network, and Radio 3. BBC Introducing not only features prominently on the airwaves but also curates stages at major festivals such as Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Latitude, and The Great Escape, and champions British talent at international events like South By South West and Eurosonic. Florence and the Machine, Raye, Olivia Dean, Arlo Parks, Tom Grennan & Sam Fender all received Introducing support at the start of their careers. Since launching the local BBC Introducing show in Beds, Herts & Bucks in 2007, Kelly has passionately devoted her career to nurturing and spotlighting new musical talent across the UK.

Kim McGuinness

Mayor of the North East

A Northern Focus 

  • Kim McGuinness is the first North East mayor. She was elected on a manifesto dedicated to creating the infrastructure of opportunity, with a plan to end child poverty and create local, well-paid jobs across the region. 

    As Mayor, Kim has committed to creating a North East that goes beyond net zero with climate change policies that change lives, where there is a good home for everyone, whether you rent or own and a well-paid job enjoyed by a skilled workforce backed by strong trade unions.

    Kim’s economic plan for the North East will be based on three key strands; 

    • improving the foundational economy

    • delivering on the green jobs revolution

    • making regional pride a key economic driver with investment in arts and music, culture and sport.

    The Mayor is working to introduce the greenest public transport network in the UK, built around her commitment to a better bus network. In her manifesto she set out a vision for public transport that is safe, reliable, affordable – and publicly owned. 

    Prior to becoming mayor, Kim was Police and Crime Commissioner for the Northumbria force area. She made crime prevention and neighbourhood support a key feature of her strategic policing plan Fighting Poverty, Fighting Crime and has invested in youth services as a way of improving life chances for all.

    As PCC, Kim oversaw the creation of the region’s first Violence Reduction Unit which saw investment in local Sure Start-style services as a way of supporting families and young people away from desperation and crime.

    Leila is the Founder of Tyne and Wear Cultural Freelancers and the Director of Northern Roots, a music promotion and development agency who’s development work focuses on supporting Artists from the Global Majority. Her work focuses on supporting and promoting the region's Creatives – especially those who are lesser represented in the sector, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive.

    Raised in Newcastle by a single parent, Leila is of mixed white and South Asian heritage. Her background has deeply influenced her commitment to inclusivity and diversity within the cultural sector. She is known for her collaborative approach, working in partnership with various organisations and individuals to disrupt the status quo. 

Liam Reay

  • UK-based but Brazilian-born, Nadedja’s soulful alternative pop sound has been described as “classy, dynamic and impressive”. She has been championed by BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing and has landed a sync placement, with her track 'Unfold' being played on ITV2's Love Island. She is an awardee of the Ivors Academy ‘In The Room’ 2024 initiative and was the very first artist to headline Sage Gateshead’s ‘From The Glasshouse’ concert series. She has supported acts such as Mica Paris and Rose Cousins on sold out theatre shows, as well as festival appearances including Latitude, Dot to Dot, Lindisfarne and Hardwick. Steven also runs talent management company The Weird & The Wonderful, managing artists to various awards and accolades such as Maya Jane Coles, Tale of Us, Tricky, Magda, Mercury Nominated Nadine Shah, Grammy-nominated artists Engine-Eatz and Catz ’n Dogz, even managing his then flatmate KDA to number 1! Steven is a board member of the NTIA, the steering community for IMS and Brit Awards EDI and formerly of the MMF and AFEM boards, which has led to making various global pride lists.  Steven has spoken about diversity, inclusion and safer spaces around the world, from Miami WMC to Amsterdam Dance Event. Tim Miles

  • After graduating from Goldsmiths in London with a degree in music, Tim got his first break in the industry in the early 2000s when his band signed a record deal with EMI. The band went on to record an album with Andy Green (Paolo Nutini, Keane) before heading out on a number of tours and playing iconic festivals such as Glastonbury and V Festival. 

    In his post band days Tim dabbled in writing music for film but soon got offered a job at EMI in the Sync team, working primarily as a creative, before leaving to join the book publisher Faber and Faber where he led the Composer Management and Sync Publishing business – working with media composers Simon Lacey and Mark Sylvan. Tim returned to the EMI business in 2013 and now runs the sync operation for Warner Music across Europe. 

    In his time at Warner he has worked on hundreds of film, TV, gaming and brand deals for the 2 million strong recordings catalogue. Standout placements include work with M&S Food for Clean Bandit, Ed Sheeran with Pokemon Go, the world’s first artist and song placement within the narrative of an AAA computer game for Stormzy and Watchdogs and most recently the combined effort in securing Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hil’l in Stranger Things. In 2016 Tim cofounded W Songs, a sync focused unit within Warner Music to sign artists and composers.

    Tony began his music industry career at EMI in the UK, rising quickly through the company’s international marketing ranks before moving to Australia to become Managing Director, EMI Music Australia in 1997. Returning to the UK in 2002, he became CEO of Richard Branson's V2 label, and also oversaw the purchase of the celebrated Fania Music catalogue in the U.S. Following V2's acquisition by Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2007, Harlow held various roles at UMG, including heading the International Marketing team.

Vanessa Bakewell

  • Vanessa has over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry. She graduated with a First-Class Degree in Performing Arts (Management of Music, Entertainment, Theatre and Events) from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 2001 before beginning her career at M&C Saatchi in London.

    Vanessa then moved to EMAP (now Bauer Media), where she worked with leading music and lifestyle publications, including Q, Mojo, Arena, Kerrang!, Smash Hits, The Face, and Empire Magazine. During her time at EMAP, Vanessa led commercial partnerships with major and indie record labels, film studios, and music retailers.

    In 2007, Vanessa joined Google and built out their specialist Entertainment Team, leading global partnerships with film studios, gaming, and record labels. She continued to YouTube in 2008 when Google acquired the platform, leading music, gaming, and movie global partnerships. In 2011, Vanessa joined Facebook Inc. (now Meta) prior to its listing on the Stock Exchange to lead Retail and FMCG sector partnerships, and in 2012, set up the Entertainment Vertical team. Vanessa continues to drive fundamental evolution and change as a global Client Partner in how film and music industries globally market their releases and events across Meta platforms. 

    Vanessa also leads innovative, award-winning global music and movie partnerships and campaigns in emerging technologies.

    Vanessa's contributions to the entertainment industry have been widely recognized, including being enrolled in the Music Week Roll of Honour as a 2020 Women in Music award winner. 

    She also sits on the Board of Trustees for The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic since 2018. 

    Vanessa founded 'The Wed Network' (Women in Entertainment and Digital), a supportive network of 1.6K women in arts and entertainment sectors and founded the quarterly Women in Film and Media forum in London. 

    She has been named one of the Alternative Power 100 Music List with She Said So and one of the top 200 women redefining the Creative Industry in the UK for International Women's Day 2018 by The Dots. 

    In 2022, Vanessa was also a 40 over Forty winner. 

    A Cannes Lions Jury Member in 2023 for the Radio & Audio Jury. 

    In 2024, a judge for the Global Entertainment Awards. 

    Vanessa's passion for music, film, education, and community shines through in her work. She is a regular guest lecturer, with recent lectures at the University of Central Lancashire, Leeds Conservatoire, Wrexham Glyndŵr University, BIMM, and LIPA. 

    Vanessa also mentors via the PRS Power Up Schemes and KeyChange mentoring in music, continuing to give back to the industry that has given her so much.
